I picked up about 5 tractor loads of brush and burned it all. There is more to pick up it's never ending. I'm not complaining the weather was beautiful and I spent every minute outside. Tammy, Wylie and I started the goats area. 38 t-posts and 4 wedge-loc corners (we could do a commercial for them, they work great). Look who's napping, you would think she been driving posts.

We lost Henry today. I will miss his big brown eyes. With calves it's a 50/50 chance and we came out on the wrong side. We gave him a lot of love in a short amount of time. We love you Henry. Life on a farm is not always easy.

Tammy had an emergency with the goat pen, major renovations had to be made, do to wind. Spring is here and the grass is greening up. Pearl and Oscar make me laugh so much, they are very busy clowns.

Tuesday, March 20, 2007

I had to leave to go to work and they all said good-bye. Pearl is hoarse from crying. The kids hate it when you walk away. They can walk on a leash and are not that afraid of the dogs now. Henry loves the goats. He had scours (upset stomach) but after two shots, two pills and electrolytes he's doing better. I truly am a farmer now (farmer in training). Just look at those faces.

Mom, Dad, and Aunt Marilyn get warm after playing with the goats.

He comes to my window to let me know he would like to come.

6:15 feeding went great Henry was glad to see me with bottle in hand. Lucy and Lulu met him, that went very well. Ozzie and Harriet are roaming free and everyone is meeting and getting along good. The dogs help me herd the geese back toward the pond. I think they like having a job.

Wylie bought a Jersey calf last night at the auction. I was ready to take the 3 other brothers but one cow is just fine, with the goats coming Sunday. I did raise my hand and came home with 2 African geese (Ozzie and Harriet). What was I thinking. You should have seen the look on the guys face when I opened the door to Honda Element and said the calf is riding in the back seat and the 2 geese are in the back. We all 3 came home and mad a bottle to feed the baby, he was very hungry. Henry's staying at my house until we get the fencing done.

The art reception was a great success, I sold 8 paintings. This one of the replacement. Went to visit Pearl and Oscar they are so cute. They get to come home Sunday. There new home is ready and I can't wait.

Tammy's holding my new little girl (haven't named her yet) and their little boy Oscar. They are six weeks old brother and sister Nubian goats. They will be weaned in about 2 weeks, then they come to live with us.

Looked a little stormy but the sun did shine that day. It made for a beautiful morning sky.

Friday, February 16, 2007

What a drive home. Opal is just happy to be inside with all of her friends. She's still sleepy after her surgery.

Thursday, February 08, 2007

I worked on the horse and painted 2 others. Now I need to sell them.

Wednesday, February 07, 2007

I over winter and ready to go outside. I know the dogs are over it. The ice, the snow, and the bitter cold.

Friday, February 02, 2007

I need a lot of practice on painting animals. I may stick to still life and landscapes.

Thursday, February 01, 2007

Where are the green acres, more snow and so cold you don't want to even think about going outside. It doesn't seem to bother some of the Kingsville residents. It's just another day to stand around the hay and catch up on farm news.

This is one of the many barns on the way to Holden. It was a blue morning, with the snow and the light everything seemed to take that color.

Monday, January 29, 2007

Yes, manatees in Holden. They came all the way from Florida to vacation in Holden. The pair are apparently tired of all the tourist.

Friday, January 26, 2007

I was so happy to look up and see this doe out my window. She's hard to see, she bends into her surrounds so well.

Wednesday, January 24, 2007

I was very surprised to come home and find this snowpig. I know that my sneaky friends next door had been behind this and I was right. It made me smile. Thanks.

Monday, January 22, 2007

Lucy and Lulu played while I plowed the driveway. They loved it. It was a beautiful snow. There was about 4 to 4.5 inches.

RR crossing caution. As with most obstacles in life you just have to wait for them to pass. I try to remind myself of this everyday. That caboose will come.

Thursday, January 18, 2007

Painting class resumed last night. We painted from one of our own photos. Even though I had not practiced I was happy with my results.

Wednesday, January 17, 2007

They are so cute together. They are not cuddling with Opal but she's not sure about the whole cuddle thing.

Monday, January 15, 2007

My view on the way to work wasn't great but I was glad to see MO DOT. The road still didn't look great but was passable.

Saturday, January 13, 2007

I swear the cats did a dance when I had to come back to the house because of the I ice. They loved that I worked from home Friday and silently wished I could do it everyday that it's cold. They stay out when I'm gone. Opal looks a lot better with a little love.

Friday, January 12, 2007

The siding is on and it's so warm inside with just the wood burning stove. Plus it looks cool.

Monday, January 08, 2007

I saw him first on a fence post, but he moved to the tree. It's not the best location for a photo with the sun going down, but at least he let me take his photo.

Wednesday, January 03, 2007

I love this when it happens, it's so pretty.

It's best to move forward and see what's new in 2007.
